Hey, y'all! My name is Kas Parris. I grew up in Boonville and have lived here for over 20 years. I currently live with my wife and cats, and I bake everything fresh from my parents’ kitchen.
I've always loved baking, and after exploring several career paths, I finally enrolled in the Culinary program at Ozark Technical Community College in 2019. There, my passion only grew as I learned decoration and baking techniques that had fascinated me for years. After graduation in 2021, I gained experience working in grocery store bakeries and donut shops. These opportunities allowed me to hone my decoration skills, which I loved, but I was frustrated with the lack of focus on fresh-baked goods. After a time I realized that if I wanted to bake fresh cakes and cookies using my own favorite recipes, I would have to find a way to do it myself.
Thus, Metamorphos Bakery was born. By creating my own bakery, I’m now able to do what I love while fulfilling a more active role in the community I grew up in. I want to give back to my community while creating visibility and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ identities in Boonville. Someday I hope to open a storefront that will act as a welcoming community space for anyone who needs a cupcake and some company.
In furthering that goal, I'm working with The Center Project (located in Columbia, MO) who are creating a database of queer-owned businesses here in Central Missouri. The Center Project also focuses on connecting members of the queer community with various resources and aid they might need.
I’m also a member of the Cooper County LGBTQIA+ Alliance.
I'm very excited to work with you all!
